HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS
While Halloween is a cherished tradition for the nation's youth, the
excitement of the night can cause children to forget to be careful.
There is
no real "trick" to making Halloween a real treat for the entire family.
Motorists:
--- Enter and exit driveways and alleyways carefully.
--- Watch for children walking on roadways, medians and curbs.
Before they go, parents should make sure that:
--- Children travel only in familiar areas and along an established
route.
--- Children know to stop only at houses or apartment buildings that
are well
lit and never to enter a stranger's home or
car.
--- Children carry a flashlight to light the way.
--- Children know not to eat any treats until an Adult at home checks
them.
--- A parent or trusted adult stays with the children. Inform
the adult
leader
of any health problems or fears that your child
may have. Give the
leader a
telephone where you can be reached. Give your
child change to use the
telephone, if necessary.
Costume Design:
--- Because masks can limit or block eyesight, consider make-up and
decorative
hats as alternatives.
--- Keep costumes short in length to prevent trips, falls and other
bumps-in-the-night.
--- When shopping for a costume, wig and accessories, look for labels
to
indicate that they are flame resistant.
Home Owners:
--- Shrubs and bushes are trimmed so there is no place for someone
to hide.
--- There are no dark areas around your house, garage, or yard at night
that
would hide prowlers.
--- Outdoor lights are on in the evening, whether someone is at home
or not,
or a
photocell or motion-sensitive lighting system has
been installed.
--- Take efforts to eliminate tripping hazards on your porch and around
your
property.
Notify law enforcement authorities of any suspicious or unlawful activities.
Have a great Time!!!!!!!!!
