HE'S BACK -- A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH UPDATE
From: chevychase_nwatch@hotmail.com (Tom Frank)
Roger is a black male in his 40's recently sighted wearing nylon workout
pants
and a baseball cap. He frequents our neighborhood and will offer
to do odd
jobs like cleaning your windows. We found him wandering in our
backyard
once last summer, and we suspect him of stealing our bicycles.
Eriko and I
strongly suggest keeping your distance from Roger and please be careful
about anyone knocking on your door for odd jobs. Much better
to get a
referral from a neighbor.
To that end, and since we've had our own problems finding good contractors
in this hot economy, if you have good tradespeople why not let me know
and
I'll collect the names and post them---if you're interested.
I expect we
all have stories, good and bad, and it would be nice to share.
I'll start: We've got a great retired Navy electrician for small
jobs. We
used to have a good gutter guy until he went crazy and screamed "but
I love
you guys" outside our house (no kidding!). Jun Mendoza(?) does
a lot of
yards in our area and is pretty good.
We're looking for someone to replace some rotting wood on our rear
addition,
and we'd appreciate a recommendation.
And finally, our housekeeper has an opening for Wednesday cleaning.
Let me
know if interested.
That's all for now. Hey, McKinley finally getting repaved.
Isn't this City
on a roll?
best,
tom frank
POPULAR STOLEN AUTOS
From: Beat26
According to a 1D Detective (via Officer Rita Hunt), Dodge Neons (and
other
Chrysler autos) seem to be a recent vehicle of choice among Stolen
Auto
thieves in PSA 109 and PSA 112. The ignition of these cars seem
to be easy
to hot wire. The detective advises: Get The Club.

POLICE BUDGET
From: MPDC2DCMDR
I would like to reiterate some of your critically important comments
concerning the MPD's budget. The MPD from all reports has made
some
significant strides over the past few years. Our goal is to be
the best
Police Department in the Country, and we can only accomplish this by
providing the best services to our community. A budget cut at
this point
will not facilitate our goals, and may hamper them. For many
years, we have
been in the business of attempting to provide better public safety
with fewer
and fewer resources. I believe that many of us are realizing
that public
safety is our most important city issue, and we have seen what can
happen
when resources are reduced beyond a certain level. I would therefore
urge
your readers to contact their council members A.S.A.P., and let them
know
that the citizens of DC won't stand for anything but the best in the
way of
public safety.
Thank you for your efforts.
