TEST YOUR "STREET SMARTS" IQ
Do you:
q Jog or walk by yourself early in the morning or late a night when the
streets are quiet and deserted?
q Stuff your purse with cash, checkbook-and then leave it wide open on a
counter, a desk, the floor? Put your wallet in a jacket, which you then hang
up or throw over a chair?
q Let your mind wander thinking about your job, or all the things you have to
do-when walking or driving?
q Think it's a waste of time to lock your car when you'll be back in a few
minutes?

If you answered "yes" to any question, you need to change a few habits.  Even
if you answered "no" and made a perfect score, read on. Spend a few minutes
now to prevent trouble later.

BASIC STREET SENSE
q Wherever you are - on the street, in an office building or shopping mall,
driving, waiting for a bus or subway - stay alert and tuned in to your
surroundings.
q Send the message that you're calm, confident, and know where you're going.
q Trust your instincts.  If something or someone makes you uneasy, avoid the
person or leave.
q Know the neighborhoods where you live and work.  Check out the locations of
police and fire stations, public telephones, hospitals, and restaurants, or
stores that are open late.

PSA 202 NEWS
The PSA Team Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month.  The next
one is scheduled for Thursday, June 6, 2000, at 2:30pm in the Second
District.  Staff members from the "Community Council for the Homeless" will
make a presentation concerning their work with the homeless.  We encourage
you to attend.

Sergeant Bobby Ladson and Officer Charena Stevenson-Bush have been
temporarily reassigned to the Youth & Preventative Services Division to work
in a unit that investigates sexual offenses against juveniles. Good luck
folks, We'll miss you while you're gone!!!!

We are enlisting assistance from you to form problem-solving groups.  The
purpose is to attack any community concerns from several angles.  Sounds like
something you might want to do!  Stop one of the officers on the street and
let him/her know you want to get involved!  NOW IS THE TIME FOR US TO DO IT,
NOT TALK ABOUT IT!
