THE LADY BEHIND THE HECHINGER SITE SURVEY
I wrote to the survey originator, asking who he or she was, and here
is what
she wrote back:

I am thrilled by the number of responses. They are pouring in as I
write this
email. I have been really touched by the comments. People
really wrote from
their
hearts.
I want people to know that this was my idea and no commercial interest
paid
for the ad. I do intend to forward a summary of the results to
Madison
Retail Group and Eric Price, Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic
Development for the District. I will also make it available to interested
residents.
The survey was developed and paid for by me. I hate driving to Bethesda
or to
Home Deport because the traffic is terrible and it takes too much time.
I
wanted to know if others felt the same way.
I'm a business writer for consulting and marketing firms and have
an MBA
from The Wharton School. I'm concerned about the loss of sales tax
revenue
because the
neighborhood does not have a hardware store anymore. When
DC residents
shop for hardware items in MD and VA, many also purchase groceries,
books,
clothing and an array of other items. The sales tax goes to MD
or VA.
I've lived in NW Washington off and on for over 20 years. Thank
you all for
your wonderful survey responses.
Ann Eichenberger.
AN EMBARRASSING / HUMOROUS ASIDE
Again, my apologies to Mr. Miller.

Good Morning - I found over 50 responses to the Hechinger Building
survey in
my
inbox this morning. While my field is historic preservation and
my
specialty is hardware, I can't do much with the survey results down
here
in Atlanta. Please post another address for responses quickly.
I will
send the responses I have collected to you or someone else if you can
properly direct me. If you are interested in preservation
of the built
environment please visit www.restorationcraftsmen.com.
The message with your email address is pasted below. I am very
thankful that someone simply hit "reply".
